{"id":2073,"date":"2012-03-18T19:03:14","date_gmt":"2012-03-18T19:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dalelane.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2073"},"modified":"2012-03-18T22:48:40","modified_gmt":"2012-03-18T22:48:40","slug":"face-movies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dalelane.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2073","title":{"rendered":"Face Movies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been using <a href=\"http:\/\/picasa.google.co.uk\/\">Picasa<\/a> to manage <a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/dale.lane\">my photos of the kids<\/a> for years. <\/p>\n<p>I noticed in the <a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/picasa\/bin\/picasa.google.com\/support\/bin\/static.py?hl=en&#038;page=release_notes.cs\">changelog<\/a> for the latest version that it now can create chronological &#8220;Face Movies&#8221;. These are videos of all the photos of a certain person, arranged in order that they were taken, and zoomed, rotated and cropped to line up the face as best as possible between the pictures. <\/p>\n<p>After a little prodding from <a href=\"http:\/\/timpoultney.blogspot.co.uk\/\">Tim<\/a>, I gave it a try. <\/p>\n<p>Here is (nearly) every photo I&#8217;ve ever taken of Grace, run through Picasa&#8217;s Face Movie.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"229\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DGd6jdcqJsw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It takes two-and-a-half minutes, but I think it&#8217;s pretty cool. I love how you can watch her face change, and her hair grow over time.<\/p>\n<p>There are settings you can tweak. For example, you can change the frame rate, or get it to filter out photos taken within a specified amount of time of each other. It means you can make shorter versions &#8211; I made a video of just <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/X36SPp5P1bY?hd=1\">some of Grace&#8217;s pics that lasts under a minute<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the same way, I have Face Movies of Faith:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"259\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/phhogThFDxI?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And a <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/jQ44bQOGCfA?hd=1\">30 second version with photos taken near each other filtered out<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>These are very cool. <\/p>\n<p>I guess they&#8217;re less fun for adults&#8230; I tried it on photos of me, and it&#8217;s basically a way to <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/NpGslP9cy90?hd=1\">watch myself age<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been using Picasa to manage my photos of the kids for years.
