I know some people find them a creepy reminder of how much data is collected about us, but I love them. Quantified self plus pretty infographics? I didn&#8217;t capture some of the less interesting ones (like <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/dalelane.co.uk\/post\/3mbrle6shma24\">Sainsbury&#8217;s<\/a>) or the ones that didn&#8217;t have enough data to be worth it (like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/athletes\/1181505\">Strava<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>It was interesting when they were all sent out, with <a href=\"https:\/\/dalelane.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5746\">Spotify<\/a> out first on December 3rd, and <a href=\"https:\/\/dalelane.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5819\">Nintendo<\/a> out last on January 13th. There is a trade-off between getting attention before Christmas but missing out on data for the last couple weeks, or capturing the whole year&#8217;s data but being later out.<\/p>\n<p>I think I prefer <a href=\"https:\/\/dalelane.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5779\">Goodreads<\/a>&#8216;s best-of-both-worlds approach with an early infographics-heavy version that had a cut-off in mid-December, and a simpler version that was kept up to date until the very end of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every site does a &#8220;Year In Review&#8221; nowadays.
