So I was pleased to see this story: <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eastleighlibdems.org.uk\/news\/000315.html\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Eastleigh Liberal Democrats website\">Chris Huhne shortlisted for top award<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne has been shortlisted for the Opposition Politician of the Year award in the 2007 Channel 4 Political awards.<\/p>\n<p>This is the top award exclusively for Opposition politicians at the network&#8217;s annual political prize-giving&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;MPs will soon receive their ballot papers for a secret ballot of all MPs conducted by the Electoral Reform Society.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well done, Chris &#8211; and good luck. <\/p>\n<p>But, it was the rest of the story that really caught my eye.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Chris Huhne said: &#8220;It is an honour to be nominated &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But &#8230; said that the best award he could have was the thanks of any Eastleigh resident whom he had managed to help with some problem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I applaud the sentiment&#8230; but really &#8211; this was a bit over the top, wasn&#8217;t it? <\/p>\n<p>I guess that maybe something I learnt today is that I can be so cynical that I&#8217;d rather he&#8217;d just said something along the lines of &#8220;yay, isn&#8217;t it cool, I hope I win!&#8221;.  \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve mentioned before that I used to work as a volunteer for Chris Huhne &#8211; my local MP.
