NOTE: I initially created this site while still at University, and stopped updating it several years ago. I'm leaving it here as most of the stuff here is probably still true, but please note that most is almost certainly out of date.

I've started making an up-to-date CV at cv.dalelane.co.uk

 Achievements
This page highlights some of my achievements while at University.
Academic Achievements
My University academic results were consistently high throughout my degree, leading to a First class honours degree.
Academic Sponsorship
I was awarded an academic bursary from Motorola, who paid for my tuition fees in my final two years at University.
I also passed the LCGI (Licentiateship of the City and Guilds Institute) for work carried out on Industrial Placement at Motorola.
Personal Achievements
I am very proud of some of the work that I have done with Mentoring Plus, and think that I helped to make a positive difference in some young people's lives.
Recognition for work in the community
Who Cares Wins was a six-part television series (see TV Guide) about volunteering, produced and broadcast by ITV West.
I was invited to feature in the second programme in the series. The filming involved being followed around by a camera crew for a day and a filmed interview, the aim being to produce a "day-in-the-life"-style profile of a volunteer.
MV Award of Excellence
I received a Award Of Excellence certificate from Millennium Volunteers for my continued work at Bath Night Shelter.
University Recognition
Nomination for the Chancellor's Prize
This University Prize is awarded annually at the Degree Congregations for academic excellence together with contribution to the life, academic reputation and general work of the University.
I was nominated for the prize by my Department, and was one of the two short-listed finalists.
Department Prize for "Contribution to the Life and Reputation of the Department"
In my final year, I was awarded the annual Department prize for Contribution to the Life and Reputation of the Department.
"The prize is awarded to the final year undergraduate student who has, throughout their time within the Department, made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Department and its reputation within the University, nationally or internationally. The award of the prize is determined by a committee consisting of the External and Internal Examiners under the chairmanship of the Head of Department."
Recognition by my peers
One of my biggest achievements while at University was being elected Vice President of the Students' Union, in a cross-campus ballot of all students - following weeks of campaigning.
I was also successfully elected throughout my time at University to a variety of other part-time positions. From positions such as Course Academic Rep, Chair of my Society, to Chair of the Students' Union, I was repeatedly chosen by my peer group to support and represent them.
Recognition for computing work
Awards for impact Online
I created the online version of the Students' Union newspaper impact. I created the site to fill what I saw as a gap in the University's communication with placement students and other students not on campus.
The site was nominated for a Guardian Student Media award, and won the Bath Media Group award for Best Website.
