I tried Second Life for the first time today. It is mentioned fairly often at work (see here, there, or pretty much any post on eightbar).
It’s kinda amazing how much time you can spend without actually doing anything! 🙂 It’s been a while since I played games like Quake, so I spent quite a while on ‘Orientation Island’ and ‘Help Island’ to get the hang of the various controls, and customizing my avatar.
I realise that I’m joining this party kinda late, but in my defence I don’t have a PC at the moment. In fact, I was borrowing a PC to be able to give it a try today. I have been aware of Second Life for a while, but it was interesting to see what everyone has been talking about for myself.
I need to get a PC, though – the computer I borrowed today was about 4 years old, and definitely not a gaming machine. Even after turning down all the graphics settings down to the bare minimum, it was still a fairly painful experience at times.
Time to buy a new PC, then? It’s educational!
