Finally – a chance to use dopplr!

http://www.dopplr.com/traveller/dalelane

I’ve had a dopplr account for a while now, but (other than the occasional trip to London) I’ve not really gone anywhere to have any trips to add to it!

My GPS code, although interesting to develop, hasn’t really had much to do other than track me around Hampshire. 🙂

Anyway, this is all a fairly flimsy excuse to make up for the fact that I can’t resist mentioning that I’ve got a rare chance to do some business travel next week.

I’ll be speaking at some System z Mainframe Technology conferences in the Far East. Yay!

For those of you not using dopplr (want an invite?), I’ll be speaking in:

  • Singapore – next Friday, 27th Jul
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Wed, 1st Aug
  • Manila, Philippines – Fri, 3rd Aug

I’m giving three different presentations at each of the conferences (argh – over thirteen hours of me talking… that can’t be good!) about…

Why do I need an Enterprise Service Bus and which one?
In this session we show the advantages of having an ESB solution in an SOA and which IBM solutions are available. We will explore WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, as well as WebSphere Transformation Extender and DataPower, look at their advantages on System z and explain how they can complement each other.

WebSphere MQ for z/OS scenarios
Learn how to connect together all the applications in your enterprise with the latest releases of WebSphere MQ for z/OS – V6. Find out how the customers use WMQ today, what the benefits of using WMQ to connect CICS, IMS, DB2 and other applications, and how WMQ can become your ESB backbone.

Extend your Enterprise Service Bus seamlessly with WebSphere Process Server
In this session we will provide an overview of Websphere ESB for z/OS, including its architecture and functionality to deliver an ESB as part of your SOA solution. We will also review WebSphere Process Server for z/OS, powered by WebSphere ESB, and discuss how the ESB solution can be expanded seamlessly to include process orchestration and business process management delivered by WebSphere Process Server as part of a comprehensive SOA platform.

I’m a bit nervous about it (should I be admitting this publicly? 🙂), but also very excited. I’m being allowed out of Hursley! A chance to meet some z/OS customers, talk to people about WPS and SOA in general, and I get some free travel. I’m a happy bunny.
